The Trading Post | 01.27.26

Good morning,

Trump hikes South Korea tariffs to 25%, gold rips through $5,100 while silver prints $117, the Fed is set to hold rates with Powell under political pressure, Microsoft/Meta/Tesla/Apple headline the most important earnings week of the quarter, and UnitedHealth nukes the healthcare sector on ugly 2026 guidance.

Brandon Wendell is hosting a free class revealing how futures trading can give you more flexibility, require less capital, and help you trade on your own schedule—even with a full-time job.

Let’s jump in.

Daily Moment of Zen

You're neither right nor wrong because other people agree with you.

Benjamin Graham

Why It Matters:

Markets don’t hand out trophies for consensus. In fact, when everyone agrees, the trade is usually crowded, late, and one bad headline away from humiliation. Being “right” in trading isn’t a popularity contest — it’s about positioning, timing, and risk management.

The tape doesn’t care how many analysts upgraded the stock, how loud FinTwit is, or how convincing the narrative sounds on CNBC. Prices move because of flows, liquidity, and expectations — not group chats. History is littered with examples where consensus comfort became collective pain (dot-coms, housing, meme stocks… pick your poison).

For traders, this quote is a reminder to respect price over opinion. If your thesis aligns with the crowd but the chart disagrees, the chart wins. Every time. The edge lives in disciplined execution and knowing when you’re wrong — not in being applauded while your P&L bleeds.

Translation: trade the setup, manage the risk, and let everyone else argue about who was “right” on Twitter.
